Tax and Other Registrations Performed by the NRC

When a new business is registered at the NRC, receiving an NIPT number and a registration certificate, that business is also registered at the same time with the tax authorities (the municipality if a small business, otherwise with the Tax Office); with the social insurance authorities, the health insurance authorities, and the labor inspectorate. These fiscal and other registrations are done by the NRC communicating the registration data to each of these authorities.

The municipality where the registered business has its seat is also notified of the registration of a new business in its jurisdiction and provided the relevant details. This means that the registered business does not need to visit the offices of any of these authorities for the purpose of registering the business with them.

However, after this registration of the business, the business must maintain direct relations with each of these authorities for whatever purposes are required. For example, a registered business must deal directly with its tax authority (the Tax Office or, if a small business, the Municipality) for all issues related to taxation. Furthermore, if a small business changes its fiscal status from small business to a VAT-registered business, the business must apply for such change of fiscal status with its Tax Office.

Any requests for changes in business registration information (as distinct from fiscal status) are submitted to and processed by the NRC.
